Pass On By

Contributed by XOashleyreneXO on Wednesday, 26th January 2005 @ 02:56:02 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

They sit in the streets,
Watching you pass by,
Waiting for you to stop,
But you just see them out of the corner of your eye.

You never stop.
They just sit and watch you walk on by,
Your and your big suit,
And your fancy silk tie.

It seems you have enought money,
To spare them some cash,
But instead you just pass by,
As they dig for food in the trash.

These children have no money.
They have no home.
They look to you for help,
And you just talk on your expensive cell phone.

The next person walks by,
Clearly not as rich as you.
And bends over,
And gives them a dollar or two.

You see this happen,
And wonder why.
This person can give so much,
Instead of just walking on by.

The next person,
Comes out with a bag.
They hand it to the kid,
And also pulls out a ten from her handbag.

You see this happen,
And keep on talking,
And all you do,
Is keep on walking.

You'll regret this someday,
Maybe not now.
But when you have kids of your own,
You'll see that kid somwhere,
Somehow.

Then you'll remember,
And understand why,
These people helped,
And you just passed on by.

People should write more about the important things in life , like this, great poem. I know what you mean, why does noone ever stop?? if this poem make just 1 person stop then it will be worthwhile, i know it will remind me to=)
