When you are 22

you are also
21
and 19
and 18
and 16.

It is worth knowing that when you are 22 you are also a little bit of 21 and the magic of being 21 is still there but not completely.

And when you are 22 you are 19 and still as wise as that one year out of home alone taught you to be.

And when 18 everything that seems to matter still does but maybe with a little less hurt and punch than when you are 18 now that you are 22.

And when 22 all those 16 years yesterdays come back and is it finally up to you what you do with them.

combine

christmas lights, 2 o'clock at night
a dirty wood table
with a candle
and some stories about a girl who stole some books and a shirt
and a friend who isn't friendly any more
and dimly lit punk rock music
and i hope the magic that happens to me happens to you
at the last outlawed place and night
where still for a moment i remember
some times worth repeating

It trails off wistfully. I like that. Plus the insight is worth reading.

Thanks for sharing.
