Verse 1: Why must they seek and devour
All of my hope and all of my power
My opinions and goals, all I once held
Now away from me, they're being withheld
How can others, claim to know me
When I don't know who I am
Or who I can even believe

Chorus: Left in the dark to find your own way
You don't know how you got there
How are you supposed to get away
The secret of life
Ripped out of your hands
Destroyed who you were
And all of your plans

Verse 2: That's what we get and deserve in the end
Broken promises and vanished plans
Yeah we think that our friends don't intend,
To help us along our way, day-to-day
But maybe we're wrong
They've been trying to help all along
But we pushed them away
Because we're confused in our dismay
