Ice fills in the holes that cover me
One by one they disappear
I am covered a little more.
Etching on the curves of my skin
Decorate the plain canvas
Now I am a work of art.
Lipstick on my untouched lips
Polish on my chewed nails
Music in my ears
But no one sees this part
The one that comes out after the show
And smiles so wide the world goes blind.
Kissing the cheeks of strangers
Hugging the sadness out of depression
Singing joy back into this house
But then the sun comes up
And the lipstick leave my body
And I am left as all the others.
Let the ice back in
Bring back the beautiful etching
The lipstick and nail polish.
Make me beautiful again.
