Unexpected Joy

Contributed by poet_of_anger on Monday, 31st January 2005 @ 04:46:39 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

As I sit alone in the dark of night
Waiting for the dawn of light
To take hold of me and let me see
What I once so strongly believed
When a message appears and strikes my fancy
An encrypted code that at first eludes me
The language of love that had haunted my past
Is finally revealing itself at last
Unexpected this is for me to be happy
Calm and collected but still oh so lonely
I stare off into space and imagine her face
That must be wonderous for this even to take place
I am scared though and silent
I don't want the feeling to go away
So I will wait here and try this
To get closer to this fate
That is pulling me closer to what I once yearned for
Forgotten it was now it has reopened the door
Joy that surrounds me as I think back on her
And I want now to hold her tell her that I care
But my words are echoes of times long gone
But this feeling inside me believes love has been found
Can I escape this, would I run if I could
The thought of love frightening yet if feels strangely good
I will continue my path that I have started to pave
I will prove to this world I am no man of hate

I really like the content of the poem. It confused me, though, since it rhymed at first then didn't- then kinda did again...

"And I want now to hold her tell her that I care
But my words are echoes of times long gone"

Powerful words.
I felt the honesty in the self-questions, and can relate.

Keep writing.
