FOR MARY'S FALLEN SOLDIER

Contributed by HOTRODSMOM on Tuesday, 1st February 2005 @ 02:00:17 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

FALLEN SOLDIERS, ONE AND ALL
ANSWERED THE BECKON,
SALUTED THE CALL

FALLEN SOLDIERS
WHO NEVER COME HOME
ARE FOREVER ON WATCH
FOREVER ON ROAM

THOUGH MISSING IN BODY
THEIR SPIRITS STAY TRUE
A HEAVENLY COMFORT
FOR ME AND FOR YOU

DEATH CANNOT STOP THEM
OR DEMINISH THEIR MIGHT
WE FEEL THEM STILL WITH US
BY DAY AND BY NIGHT

SO MOURN IF YOU HAVE TO
SHED HEALING TEARS
THEN REMEMBER THEIR HONOR
WILL OUTLAST THE YEARS

GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN
THE ESSENCE OF SELF-LESS LOVE
FALLEN SOLDIERS
FOREVER PROTECTING
THOUGH NOW FROM ABOVE...

Brovo well done, I'm sure all the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, wives, aunts and uncles would thank you for this poem, prayers for all our troops and their families.

I appreciate this poem. One comment, and please don't think I want to take anything away from this tribute... It is so nice to read a tribute to Soldiers. I don't like to consider "forever on watch, forever on roam" though. We expect a lot out of our Soldiers, It is a hard life, particularly the past few years. I like to think the fallen Soldier is finally at rest. Peace.

I really just have to say thank you for writing this poem. All the men in my family are in the military and almost half of them are in Iraq. This poem really hits home for me and you put it so beautifully.Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
