An Ode to Your Neck

The pale nape of your neck, A gentle right angle of soft freckles and silk skin, Soaked in the milk moonlight, Touching it lightly I have never felt so safe, That I bear witness to such form, Soothes me like nothing Ive known. This navy night sub-cover utopia, To know it exists, Is to both know life and get it. The daily grind, the wear and tear, the hustle and bustle, I tolerate this barbarism tenuously, A stone cold soul, Sceptically solidified, Perfunctorily performing biological requirements, Forgetting why I bothered in the first place. The nape of your neck is the oxygen for my soul, Reminder of the eternal, Indictor of the infinite, I no longer breathe in out of habit, Because I stole a glance at heaven, It props up your head, Displays your jewels, Gets stiff when youre stressed, Functional to you, For me its a reminder, That each breath is a miracle, And each day bliss
