The Sun Shines but I Don't

I do not weep crocodile tears, but pure, deep distress. No pollyannaish words will fall out of my mouth. A misconceived me sours in the sun. Does anyone else live an infelicitous life? My contentedness is ambiguous. My self-induced affliction is not. This feeling that animates me, there is no utterance I can speak to describe it. Do you understand yet? My reverie is that of someone who possesses a discombobulated mind. I shudder from anything and everything cheerful. The sun shines, but I don't. And that is what ultimately puts me where I am. In between a knife and a needle, both leading to the grave.

"discombobulated" Love that word! I like the lonely standing figure thoughts initiated by this poem. Blessings. |
