Cried Today

Contributed by CodyJ on Tuesday, 8th February 2005 @ 09:31:51 PM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

I cried today.
Not the way
I wanted to,
in happiness,
or joy,
in sadness,
or a ploy
to get some
attention
or affection
from ones so close.

I cried today.
In a frustrated way,
full of anger and hate,
a feeling so raw
words can't relate
the blinding
stinging
stygian darkness
cast from eyes
that won't patronize.
Not this time.

I cried today.
I didn't mean to get this way.
But what else can I do?
Locked out by a blind system,
cast out by a rabid stem
too focused on a morality
to focus on the plurality
of atrocities that we commit
that I've tried to swallow
but it doesn't sit
well in my stomach at all.

I cried today.
Because I couldn't say,
what I needed to say.
I couldn't be the one to stand up.
I couldn't be the one to change people's minds.
I am a hypocrite half of the time
and the other half I'm too twisted to unwind
coherrent speeches from the self pity,
out rage from the sedated cities,
sunshine from apocalyptic gray.
The only comfort I have,
is that I cried today.
