Precious, precious angel
On such a reckless flight
Put aside your earthly wings
God's called you Home tonight

You lived within dark shadows
And longed for life's sweet dreams
But somewhere along the path
You lost yourself, it seems

What drove you to your sorrows
What made you close your heart
What demons were you fighting
What pain made all this start

We've never walked in your shoes
Or saw life through your eyes
And we'll never know the pain that came
As life slowly passed you by

But the ones that loved you first
Still love you to this day
Your flight to self-destruct, Sweet Angel
Is all that blocked their way

Now God has heard your slient pleas
He knows your true heart's heart
Your fight is finally over
Eternal peace at last to start

So rest easy now; the pain is over
Stand boldly in God's light
Yes, set aside your earthly wings, Sweet Angel
God's called you home tonight...
