He said let me tell you, death aint the end And dammit boy, life aint your friend. And Im lookin at him like he just landed from mars. lifes just a stage that we go thru to get to the place were going to and wealth isnt measured in mansions and cars. Its like going out with a bucktooth girl or working down at the Dairy Swirl. Its just something you do till something else comes along. Now you can serve dip cones all your life, and if you want to make that toothy girl your wife, well thats fine son, dont get me wrong. But we all get hankerin for a better lot, and we get fixated on what we got, And soon we cant find our butts with both hands. Just walk tall and do your best, and keep the love of god deep in your chest, And youll be rich, does ya understands? Well heck no I didnt and I stared away and got thinking how Id be a star some day And then grandpa put a big ole knot on my head. God damn, old man! Was all I could say, and then his smile kinda faded away And he reached out and he grabbed my hand. I donts have much more time down here, and my one and only biggest fear Is we wont meet up again in the promised land. I wish my love could pull ya up with me, but only you can control your destiny And if ya dont fly right Ill never see my boy again. He rested back in his easy chair, and fell asleep while I was sitting there, And those were the last words my grandpa said. To this day I live a simple life, with my deadend job and my bucktoothed wife, And my grandpas words rollin in my head. let me tell you, life aint your friend, and Dammit boy, death aint the end.' Well said, old man, well said.
