she sits on the edge of the bed staring and rocking her mind seems locked from everyones intrusions day in and day out her routine never varies as the nurses walk by and check on her she rocks do we ever try to imagine what goes on in their minds
he sits in a chair a tray in front leaning to one side position never changes unless the nurses move him there is no expression on his face his eyes are blank no one comes to see him he wouldnt know anyways do we ever try to imagine what goes on in their minds
he is everywhere constant motion never sits down he goes from room to room rummaging through drawers never ceases in his endless quest no one knows why sadly neither does he anymore just keeps moving de we ever try to imagine what goes on in their minds
they are the forgotten one the families choose to ignore their brains are completely destroyed they are only shells they are the bodies that linger they are not released yet ive always wondered why maybe to be a reminder to everyone do we ever try to imagine what goes on in their minds

Oh wow this was great. You must work in a nursing home. This surely does make me think of so many folks I've taken care of over the years. I often wondered....hoped that where ever they were it was better than the existance they lived. So many older folks forgotten, misunderstood, unloved. Many nights I left work with tears in my eyes for those folks. I adopted alot of grandparents. Much peace to you. Laura |
