Father Forgive Me

Contributed by weepingprophet on Saturday, 12th February 2005 @ 02:24:07 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

You say they’ll trace it back to me, the strident rebellion. I tie the final knot, unashamed. You’re bleeding through your shirt, every beat of your heart brings another spurt. I do not stop to contemplate, how you survive this fatality. I do not question what seems to be miraculous, I am blind, we are all blind. I see you as the friend that begs me to untie the noose I’ve just hung, and I dare not go beyond that. I do not need to know what bleeds inside of you, not until you’ve bled on me. But you’re feet away and I can’t hear you gasping for breath, I’m climbing the sterile steps. I want to embrace what I’ve lost my potential to, this obsession with myself. The immortal. You are reaching now as I slide my head through fate’s hole of penance. Here I will pay the cost of what I’ve done to you. Just as I let my legs stumble and falter, search and reject the platform beneath them, I see you kneeled before me, bleeding profusely and without end. I see these tears that you so often spoke of when my ears were tuned to other things. You raising your hands, holes toward heaven, screaming. Another one lost, how is it I have tied the knots of my fatality, built my gallows with such precision, hardly aware of the true cost? I never saw you bleeding so I’ll plead ignorance. The figure fades; tearstained, immersed in regret, feet violent for ground to rest upon. The raging sight of the blind man, you’ve been screaming toward heaven the entirety of my build, I cannot hear over the sound of the nails I have driven.
Father forgive me.

Are my choked tears enough to express and convey to you how well-written this poem is?
I hope so, for I am otherwise speechless.
Lots of love and peace be with you,

Chelsea
