Today should be a happy day
Today should be a fun filled day
Today should be shared and enjoyed
Today one year ago we had our first lunch
I know it does not sound like much
There have been more lunch dinners and outings
Those are all gone now
Along with my dreams and hopes of what could have been
Now what fills my heart and mind and soul
Is how to trudge along in this cold world
When all I want is to lie down and turn to ashes and dust
Just to make the pain and memories go away

Brilliant. I can relate, in part... the future never does look appealing when the memories of the past are so painful. I hope everything works out for you in the end thoug. Great write.
