Today's Embrace

Contributed by carrie on Sunday, 21st July 2002 @ 08:34:48 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Swiftly, I prance about the house
wringing my hands as if they were towels.
Ears alert for the sound of your knock,
heart pounding, nerves in shock.

I await with impatience
today's embrace
so sweet was the earlier taste.

All for the memory, sweet and ripe,
a fruit I had eaten that lingers inside.
That fiery gaze under moonlight haze
that trembled between us and slowly filled us.

Your eyes of innocence, yet wisdom,
open and vulnerable, unveiled to me
something wonderful.

Enfolding me. Molding me.
Seeking me. Holding me.

I am bound to you with a single glance.
So I stared on and became
more entranced.

So sure am I of my own faux pas
of letting you see the emotion I saw.
Love, awake, breathing upon
your lips that utterly capture my own.

So I await with impatience
today's embrace
so sweet was the earlier taste.

Sometimes the waiting is the hardest part and sometimes the anticipation of it all fuels the entire rest of the evening. Just never let em see you sweat. *smile* Fun poem, Carrie.
Take care,
Sherry

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
