With streaks of blonde in your eye
We both smile and laugh it all away
Sun ripened memories
Of those days long ago
Lemonade covered lovers
In the warm summer air
Tainted laughs left to fry
As we skid down fake love all day
Moon beams shattering everything
That happened in a world far off
Vodka burning throats
That have spent to many years screaming
With a sing song voice
You try to tempt me back to that land
Clouds moving slowly across our faces
On this solemn day and meeting once again
Silent prays whispered under labored breaths
As hearts lain dormant for years wake again
True we have always lied to ourselves that we had a choice
I can sigh away my troubles and take your hand
Stars shining in your hair tonight
With a shrug of my shoulders it all disappears
We are left with old places to explore
Traveling on roads not taken since we were young
We could always back away from that
Venture not far from our normal lives
Grass rippling through our hearts
As we try to find a way to work it out
So we can kiss again under our lemonade sky
Nevertheless, in the end nothing even works out
However, one day we will remember how we sat
And toyed with the sharp ends of knifes

| This brings back some negative nostalgia for me. It reminds me of my ex-girl friend who I was deeply in love with. Like your poem reiterates; no matter how far you think your heart can go, you mean nothing in the face of reality. |
