ITS AMAZING HOW I MADE IT OUT THE HOOD
I'M BLESSED TO BE HERE
CAUSE IF I WASNT
I'D BE BACK IN THE HOOD
UP TO NO GOOD
MY HOMIE USE TO ROLL BLUNTS OUT ON THE PORCH
ITS BEEN EIGHT YEARS SINCE HIS DEATH
I KNOW YOUR IN HEAVEN
SO I TOOK YOUR FIRE TO LIGHT MY TORCH
MY NEIGHBOR USE TO GET DRUNK
AND PREACH ABOUT HOW I NEEDED TO CHANGE MY LIFE
HE NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO FINISH RAISING HIS KIDS
HE WAS FOUND DEAD
THE KILLER
WAS HIS WIFE
MY HOMIES GIRLFRIEND ALWAYS USE TO SAY
WE BETTER PLAN FOR THE FUTURE
IF WE DIDNT WANT TO END UP DEAD
SOMEONE DID A DRIVE BY ON HER HOUSE
SHE LIVED
BUT HER BABY WAS DEAD
NEW YEARS EVE
I WAS WITH MY BOY
LIL' TURF
THE NEXT DAY HIS MOM CALLED ME
SHE SAID HE KILLED HIMSELF
AND THAT HE LEFT A LETTER OF HURT
DEATH WAS CHASING ME
IT WAS TOO OBVIOUS
NOT TO SEE
I HAD TO BREAK AWAY FROM THE HOOD
AND GIVE MYSELF A CHANCE TO BE FREE
NOW I ATTEND COLLEGE
AND I FINALLY HAVE MY HEAD ON STRAIGHT
ITS FUNNY HOW PEOPLE STILL WANT ME TO FAIL
BUT THATS JUST ANOTHER DEFINATION OF HATE
THERE IS NO DOUBT
THAT I WONT WASTE ANYMORE OF MY TIME
CAUSE I WILL FOREVER KEEP IN MY MIND
THAT.........

| Theres so many people out there that wish they could have accomplished what someone else has, and they'll do anything to tear that person down..but theres also many people out there that want the best for you, and they'll do anything to see you succeed..Excellent poem, and good luck in college, buddy! =) |
