Passing Of Time

Topic: StoryPoetry

Sunday afternoon
Static and scratching
My radio out of tune
Leaning pushing buttons searching
Old time music rock&roll
I leave it on
Bless your soul
memories abound
The sun is out and a clear blue sky
Tapping my fingers to the sound
Puffy clouds floating high
Give me that oldtime rock&roll
I look out my window on my side
Why hello Mary lou
An old run down house captures me
I pull off to the side of the road
I had to stop for a look and see
It must be over a hundred years old
Browneyed Susan and white daisies in the grass
I smiled at a tire swing
I chuckled a little laugh
Thinking of youth long ago remembering
A lilac bush just budding out
Blossoms on a fruit tree
I sit here thinking "What about"
What about the family
Who were they, how many childen
Where is the family now
I mean descendant
Did they have chickens or cows
Were they sturdy and strong
The grass timithy over grown
Was one widowed and lived alone
I sat and wondered then drove on
The past always fascinates me
Makes me feel happy, sad and glad
you may think it takes a toll Mystery is a tease
Long live rock&roll
Just the passing of time
Sinned
