Taken for Granted

Contributed by poky1502 on Monday, 21st March 2005 @ 12:14:57 AM in AEST
Topic: InternetLove

Step by step he learns the world
Word by word he speaks the truth
Blink by blink he sees the tragedy
of the lost forgotten youth.

Lost all hope
They cant be saved
They arent worth the effort
is the excuse they gave.

To young to understand
he made it out alive
One of the lucky ones
who wont have to strive
For the love of another
A sense of acceptance
An abandoned brother
A helpless second chance

Its taken for granted
The happiness he shares
with the ones that love him
The ones that care

He'll grow old
His innocence lost
Will he live in ignorance
and at what cost?

The bubble we live in
Brings blindness to all
Except those who live for us
The ones who take the fall.

Your poem is very powerful. It actually hits a personal note for me so I enjoyed reading it a lot, my favourite poems are the ones that I can relate to. I actually just have one question for you...who, to you, are "those who live for us, the ones who take the fall"? Are you reffering to people who have suffered? I'm very curious
