I think you can always tell how good a poem is, by how good the poet is that comments on it. mjgrl----one of the best on the site---- that was a side note, and that observation might not be true......but....that's my first thought.
Second thought::::::
wow, "paint chips off tulip walls"----love that image. I like images that are very contrasting.....it makes me laugh sometimes.....other times, it makes me think, most often, no every time, it makes me feel.
You also used that "contrasting image" style with::::::::
metallic sleeves----children's brows
also, I love the ending, "smelling the tulips" It makes me feel...........home.
