I CAN HEAR THE SILENCE
AS YOU PASS BY MY BEDROOM DOOR
I KNOW YOU'LL LEAVE TO WORK
LIKE MANY TIMES BEFORE
YOU'LL COME HOME LATE AGAIN
AND I'LL BE SITTIN PATIENTLY
TO ONLY HEAR THE SILENCE
OF LIPS THAT DO NOT SPEAK
IT'S THE SOUNDS OF THE SILENT LOVER
I HEAR HIS FOOTSTEPS DOWN THE HALL
CAN'T SEE NO HOPE, NO RECOVER
BUT THE WORST ALL
IS THE SOUND OF THE SILENT LOVER
IT'S LOUD ENOUGH
TO BREAK THE WINDOWS IN MY HEART
IT'S STRONG ENOUGH
TO SEND US RUNNING FAR APART
IT'S THE SOUND OF THE SILENT LOVER
