Tell me why I love you,
Tell me why a flame
Burns in my face and in my heart
At the sound of your name,
Tell why, when you walk past me,
My feet dont feel the floor,
Tell me why Ive never Noticed you before.
Just tell me the reasons why
And maybe Ill forgive
How you make me laugh and cry
By just the way you live.
Give me a reason to go on
And never give a sign,
For you have your friends and your life
And I, too, have mine.
I know you have a right to fun
And a right to be free.
I know you have that other one
Who does not look like me.
I know I shall meet others
And think how young Id been...
But why are you the only one
Of all the ones Ive seen?
And I have to smile and deceive...
Give a reason for the lie
That I repeat and cant believe,
And I do not know why.
