After that first night

Contributed by Doriens_Picture on Wednesday, 23rd March 2005 @ 03:52:25 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

In our bed I lay awake
With eyes wide open I stare
And listen to you breath in the
Quiet of the room
My heart has never been so still
So still as if one beat could wake you
And I could not do that
For you cried yourself to sleep
Were they of joy?
I do not know
All I can do is wait and see
I am sleepless yet not restless
For what is rest if not comfort and peace?
And being set free from turmoil
For what is rest if not heaven?
Heaven is most beautiful by your side
In love
In our bed I lay awake
Feeling the warmth of a dream
As the light slowly creeps
From the velvet curtain in my room
My eyes shut and yours open
Only to wake me with a kiss

a beautiful, sweet and very well written piece of poetry. The imagery cast in the readers head is fabulous. A pleasant and delightful read. Thanks for sharing it.
Hugs,
Sue

I agree with sweetangeluk, very romantic, beautifuly written. I'm sure the tears were of joy, how could they not be when such a poem as this mentions them two lines away from your heart. Great write.
