Our eyes met briefly for a few seconds Reflected in a pool of tears, And then where did you go, and where did I?
* * *
Was that you, or was it a blooming flower? Was that really you, or just a light shower? I think I saw your face, but was it just a dream? Your eyes looked straight at me, but were they as it seems?
Was that actually you, or just a scent on the breeze? Was that you, or just a rescue ship of rough seas? Was that really you, or just some light on the road? Was that you, or just a stranger who helped me home?
Was that you or did I find a whole new land? Was that your arm, or just a shadow on the sand? Were your eyes filled with tears, or was that just me? Was that really you, or just a wonderful memory?
Was that your face, or was it just my imagination? Did I see you that night, or was it a magical sensation? Was that you, or just moonlight spreading through the day? Was that you, or a number of lovely words I heard you say?
Was that you, or just the wonderful joys of Spring? I think I heard you, or did I hear the wedding bells ring? Was that you, or just footsteps beating in my heart? Was that you, or just an overwhelming dream tearing me apart?
* * *
Our eyes met briefly for a few seconds Reflected in a pool of tears, And then where did you go, and where did I?
* * *
Was that you, or did a silhouette wipe away my tears? Was that you, or did happiness replace all my fears? Was that really you, or did a cloud of joy pass overhead? Was that really you, or was I lying on a rose bed?
Was that you, or did I reach my goal? Was that you, or just a light glowing on my soul? Did I hear you voice, or was it just a nightingales call? Did I see your tearful face, or did I just imagine it all?
* * *
Our eyes met briefly for a few seconds Reflected in a pool of tears, And then where did you go, and where did I?
