Grandfather tells the stories
Of how things used to be
I look down in the valley
And envision what he sees
Battle hardened, tested steel
Nerves of iron wrought
Into the frames of brave young men
`Twas on that field they fought
Invaders came down from the north
A plight across our land
Here it was decided
They would make their final stand
With near three hundred horses
And twice as many men
Freedom was their battle cry
Gods, grant us strength to win
With grim determination
Out numbered five to one
They engaged the enemy
Fighting 'till the day was done
Galiel led the forward charge
Maruleean the right flank
Roeshawn took the left side lead
As the warriors broke ranks
More pitched a battle was never seen
Amidst the cries of horse and man
Bodies soon littered the field
With blood, the river ran
To a man they stood their ground
And to a man they died
But left they not a single foe
Alive for home, to ride
So they'll not be forgotten
Carved in stone at Valley Mouth
Stands a statue to commemorate
The warriors of The South

| Reminds me of a movie I just saw "King Arthur", the true account... I love things like this. ANd it can also be related to our present times. Like they say "history repeats itself...". I love hearing war stories from relatives. And now I get to hear them from friends... which someday will pass on as well. Nice job. You took me to another place. |

Wow. So this just popped into your head? Awesome! It reminded me of a movie i once saw, very sad indeed. It was called "A night in glory" I love that movie. Even though i watched it in school lol. Anyways great write. Painted quite a vivid picture in my head.

A really good type of historical redition, with super creativity and verse with wonderful imagery.
It sounds like this was quite spontaneous
