if parting really led to sorrow then
i'd at least have some memory of her
lesser things have caused the downfall of men
so why have i chosen to remember
this one, this loss,this pain which tortures me
and if i thought about her any less
she'd only be a faded memory
overthinking causes me too much stress
learning to breathe as i take in a sigh
i move on in order to drown her out
as i turn my face to speak a lie, i
urge myself to remember to forget
neither my mind nor soul are ready yet

| i love the last stanza...remembering to forget, the unlikely bedfellows of the mind and soul...and the beautiful sadness that comes from letting go. this is good. |

Isn't it weird how we each as humans fight our own battle in getting over someone..and how memories can taunt and tease the mind so many times when we think that we don't need to talk or need to remember or think about it...i think it's a mystery....thanks for sharing this one i could get into a novel just over this poem lol...it's a beautiful write....
