Silence of the Innocent

Contributed by NightOwl on Friday, 1st April 2005 @ 07:39:11 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

The girl silently slip out the back door late at night
Her family is soundly sleeping
She just wants a quiet place to think
Alone

Cool night air nips her skin, refreshing her
Lightening bugs and stars glitter and wink
She gracefully whispers through dew-ridden grass
Alone

As crickets chirp and birds settle in for the night
She offers her intense emotions to the chilling wind
Gentle rain begins to fall softly on her upturned, radiant face
Alone

Reaching a meadow beyond the woodline
As rain begins to fall harder, more harshly
She falls silently to hard, cold, unforgiving ground
Alone

As her wretched tears gracefully fall and hit the earth
Her body gives up the pain it has held in
No one is there to hear her screams of agony
Alone

Her rapist remains forever in front of her eyes
She will never forget his voice or his face
Finally her body releases its innocent spirit
Alone
Forever

Well written. The use of "alone" was great. It made the reader feel some of the sadness, of course i think that last two lines did that best.

A deeply portrayed and very well expressed poem filled with sadness and emotion. Ur work is so descriptive and intense. A great write. Well done.
Hugs,

well done, i think it could have been more affective if it was a verse shorter. Emotion is better tasted in quick grasps.
