There are a few special people Who are lights in others lives There are a few special people Who qualify in a persons eyes As someone who is wonderful Someone who is kind Someone who teaches others Someone pure of heart and mind. You only meet a person like this Once in your life And once you have found them You have found your light. They may be a teacher, a lover, a friend, But when you meet this person You hope your meeting will never end. This person will teach you wonderful things, And not just everyday lessons: Things about what life may bring Or give you important directions. When you meet this person, Your own special light, Treasure them Learn from them Every day and night. Tell them what they mean to you: Show them special things So if you have to leave them They will know what they bring. That way they will always know Exactly how you feel So even when you have to go They can easily heal. Remember this special person All of your life And tell your childrens children How this person was your light.

Author's Note: This poem was about someone who I looked up to and respected and loved as a Mom. She despises me now, who knows why, but this reminds me of how vulnerable I was. Kids aren't just toys to abuse and hurt. Believe it or not, it feels like someone is killing you when a parent turns on you. And you don't ever recover. So, please, report and watch for abuse! And don't purposefully hurt others, because you may not know the damage it causes. |

Not bad for a 6th grader. The best way to improve on writing is to study and keep writing. |

It's hard to imagine a sixth grader writing this. It took me back to my sophmore year in high school. I had a marvelous english teacher who did more for my self confidence than anyone before or since. I truly hope you keep writing. The only way you get better is by honing your skills. Good luck and God bless. |
