Success: The Journey

Contributed by reflections on Monday, 4th April 2005 @ 11:03:15 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Success is not a destination
it's a journey.
The destination is at best
the journey's end.
Success is an unequaled
moot equation
unless avidly PERSUED
when you begin.
The starting line is never known
(much less defined);
so, some don't know exactly
where to start.
To be successful, one starts early
or risks being left behind.
If you want to make your mark
then play it smart.
Enjoy the journey start to finish,
live life fully every day
at each landmark
heed the message wisdom sends.
As you grow in strength and stature
you will surely understand
success should not be gauged in money
BUT IN FRIENDS!

John F. Templin

Oh this is exactly what I needed to hear today.
Success a journey..
Just likeLOVE IS HARD WORK. and not a romantic pillow.
An unequalled moot equation. What wisdom! What brilliance.!
These words are true gems to be held on to!
Thanks a lot John for ringing it home.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloria!

Appreciate the insight you elequently put in this poem. It is evident that you are not just speaking empty words, but that you are speaking from what you have learned through your experience. Poems like these can be of huge importance to other's who have not come to these same realizations. I think, in the end, we will all come to the same realizations about life, it's just that some people pay attention and learn faster than others, who don't.

Success is not a destination …
it's a journey.
The destination is at best …
the journey's end.
Success is an unequaled
moot equation
unless avidly PERSUED
when you begin.
The starting line is never known …
(much less defined);

This was my favorite part of the poem. I really identify with the line, "The starting line is never known...much less defined"----I think that is a realization that you can only come to, after you've lived for a long enough time to be able to look back......You have to have the perpective to see it. And also, the main point, that the journey is the destination is very wise, because if we live our lives trying to get somewhere then we will never pay attention to where we are, and we will miss out on life, because once you realize that you've been trying to get somewhere your whole life, you are too old to go back and change it.

Be True,
zenmind
