Down to Me

Contributed by CodyJ on Wednesday, 20th April 2005 @ 07:07:25 PM in AEST
Topic: ambiguous

Darkness is the only answer.
With folded hands you begin to pray,
"Lord, take my sins. Wash them away."
Silience echoes in a harsh reverb.
You listen carefully.
Not a word.
Life is unexpected.
To the point,
could you love me now that I've changed.
Will you be there when no one else comes around?
Will you love me when I'm down to you?
You thought you could do better.
You didn't want to settle on me.
The world is a gigantic place.
It goes from mountains to sea scape,
cities to tranquil capes,
there are gajillion people,
from sea to shining sea,
and all you found was me.
I'm sorry I wasn't good enough the first time.
As a matter of fact, I'm not.
It is a great big world,
there are plenty of other girls.
You are ready to settle on me.
But I won't settle for you.

wow! Really, really good write. Sadly many of us have been on one or the other end of this - interesting to see your choice. Well done.

:)

This one deserved a lot more reads, and should be under inspirational poetry. An extremely hearfelt and emancipating -even empowering declaration of choice. Self respect should always win out in the world of 'settling'. Hold out for someone who thinks your the ants pants, who feels lucky to have you! 5/5
