We'll Feel Better in the Morning

Contributed by TheLoner on Friday, 22nd April 2005 @ 02:09:59 AM in AEST
Topic: SecretLove

The sleepless night
She is across the room
Never so close and so distant at once

Shifting frames of vision reveals
Innocence, beauty, perfection
She had weathered her storm and now slept peacefully
So perfect and beautiful, if only she knew how you felt

Your storm is only beginning
There will be no sleep tonight
Sorrow and hopelessness your blanket
Irrelevance your pillow
Laying on a matress of despair
Smoking another cigarette
Searching for some relief

It doesnt matter though
Because nobody can sleep on that bed of nails

It doesnt matter though
Your solace is seeing her peaceful expression
Preserved in a fragile sleep

And knowing that
whatever happens
Whatever dark path life may take you down
however deep in a depraved drunken despair
however alone and worthless you might ever feel
You can always just remember this one moment
The moment when you felt pure, unrestrained love
And your problems will become meaningless

First of all welcome to YPDC.
Your poem is absolutely great. I loved the flow and the way it was expressed. Well done. I hope to read more of your work soon.
Hugs,
