I Kept The World Locked Up

Contributed by Dereku on Friday, 22nd April 2005 @ 05:19:15 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

I keep the world locked up
In a cage, on a shelf, hidden behind
The secrets and lies
I keep the world inside
A prison, on a beach, secluded
Away, away from the sands of time
Nothing changes, nothing goes,
Nothing comes, ebbs to and fro

The people hang their shells up
At the end of the day
They relax and recline
Unable to say
Or to do
Empty and without
They wind down their lives
With emptiness and lies
Their world is their image
They no longer take the passage
Home and away
To the place they can stay
In peace with their mind
In tune with their life
They get up and put on their shell
And lead lives they don't want
They see the world through a locked window
A window with bars
A dream with stars
A dream they can't reach
And so they teach
Each and next generation
That life is sad and without hope
And so it goes that life is that
Sad and dreary unable to cope
With the shells and the sheep
Unable to keep hold of what it is
What it wants, and what it means
It ebbs and wains
Slowly...slowly...trying in vein

I let the world go free
Free to fly
Free to die
I let the world soar
To try and to want
More and more
To change and to grow
To ebb to and fro
Everything changes.....everything goes
Everyone goes, and nobody knows
