Running Mate

Contributed by Willofree on Monday, 25th April 2005 @ 10:57:39 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

I caught a glimpse of a potential partner of mine
Seems to be an attraction of a kind
Keep running into each other

Power of coincidence
Well perhaps somewhat planned
Actually deliberate and carefully orchestrated

Fleeting, but repeated eye contact
Both of us seem interested, but too shy to react
We seem to be in a competition of some kind

Who will make the first move
So far both are a holdout, with no vote
Less risk of loosing the election

There is a joint overall campaign
Each to woe the other into the romantic domain
Fantacise even, about a relationship together

Been alone long enough
Hoepfully we both have all the right stuff
Gee, I hope someone takes a risk soon

Well it's almost time for a nomination
A vote is cast for someone to take some action
Hopefull we will win the election

Yea, she said yes to our going out on a date
Gosh, where do I take her where we could have some fun
The business of dating is a complicated one

Well it's time for an election
I cast my vote for a selection
Hope our campaign is successful

Yes the election is over, the choices made
a loving bond we did create
Oh, I only hope our relationship will last

i loved the metephor also. the creativity and the originality, which i think is very important in any work of art, was exceptionally used here. there was not a dull moment reading this. quite unusual these days on this site. never stop writing.

A complicated game, and one that makes me wish for older, simpler times. But you've made good progress. Here's to hoping you find fulfillment.

A very well-written and illustrative piece.

Andrew

Very nice with a clever metaphor. I like this. Hope it works out. J.
