This Love

This Love

At last I admit it
I do love you!
So long I would not entertain it
Believing such thing improper

As both are married
To another we love deeply
Two hearts committed to us long ere we met
Sworn true and faithful

Convinced I had no right
I denied my hearts stirring
Chastising myself daily
Such thoughts attributed to the folly of lust

Yet my heart would not concede
In fact he responded with vigor
Unabashedly taking to task to my shallow view of love
Until at last I acquiesced to truth

~~~~~ He said ~~~~~
How can it be that love
As beautiful and majestic as it is
Can still be so misunderstood
So misunderstood by a poet as you
Is love in and of itself
Anything dastardly or evil ?
Why must love be threatening?
Or anything other than a cherished blessing?
Love is not wrong
To be in love with another is not wrong
True love is not the quenching of selfish thirst
Nor the placing ones own desires first
True love is seeking anothers good
Doing whats right in spite of own desires
Sacrifice, compassion, encouragement, joy
Softly urging and tenderly caressing anothers heart
Yes you do love her
For it is impossible not to
For her precious and gracious heart
Has become a radiant light in this darkened world
There need not be trespasses or offence
Only encouragement and inspiration
Befitting the integrity and purity of love
As God intended love to be
Russ
