Rats In The Walls

Topic: DarkPoetry

Things were bad
There wasn't much to be had
Seems everyone was in some line
This terrible year of 1929
The stock market tumbled down
All across the country in every town

Jobs just could not be found
The whole world seemed unsound
All over people stood in line
Crying

Nothing was in the norm
So many lost their money and home
I was no exception
Everywhere deception

I wandered from town to town
There were no jobs to be found
Stealing everywhere on the rise
Mommies even daddies cried

People were starving they went hungry
No one had any money
Homes were lost
Families were tossed

Sleeping in the streets
Oh ; how they weeped
So much horror
Such a tragedy never seen before

I left my home
Like many man I roamed
I was walking down this dusty country road
Alone

It was autum and I was cold
I carried with me all that I could
All my earthly belongings
Freezing

For awhile I tried sleeping off the road
My belongings and blanket I laid in a grassy knoll
Cold
I tossed turned and rolled

I got up and decided to walk
I lit a Luckystrike
Darn almost out of smokes
I continued my treck

The road was extreemly dark
Stark
Up ahead I noticed an old farm house
Cold I mused

Yes; I will go ask if they have a room
I needed to be warm
I knocked on the door
Both husband and spouse answered

You remember the painting of the old farm couple
He with a pitchfork and a face of stubble
His wife standing along side
Both hollowed eyed

Do you have a room to put me up
Shour'e enough
The both led me upstairs
You can use this room here

It had a strange oder
I took my pack from my shoulder
The bed was lumpy blankets tattered
I was now warm so it didn't matter

It wasn't long I began to dream
Strange
Perspiring I awoke with a shilling scream
Was I deranged

It felt so real
My body chilled
I sat up in bed and listen
This dream what a horrible vision

I'm awake,but I hear it again
Scratching,clawing,gnawing
It's not my imagination
What in damnation

There's rats in the walls
I hear their calls
Their claws
Their paws

Gnashing of teeth
The sound there is no relief
I go to the door I want out
Its locked Open I shout

I shake and kick to no advail
Im Im here stuck with these demons of hell
I hear louder their horrible sounds
Quickly I look around

They chewed holes through the plaster
Its me their after
I see their yellow greenish eyes
Someone someone please hear my cries

Demons here they come
Thousands
Scratching clawing gnawling at my legs
Please let me out I beg

I fall in pain to my knees
No one hears my pleas
Gnashing a million teeth
Clothing skin torn I bleed

Perfusly
Panicly
I feel my life leave
God forgive of any devious deeds

There tearing at my skin
Too many I can't win
In extreem pain I surcome
Into eternity I enter in my battle unwon

Sinned

this was immensely dark and so thought provoking my friend. It sent chills up my spine. A very well conveyed piece of poetry. Well done.
Hugs,
