The Mannequin

Contributed by Willofree on Monday, 2nd May 2005 @ 03:05:26 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Standing in the window looking out
Poised like a statue
Watching life pass me by
All seem busy rushing, in a hurry
Each one, I wonder
Where are they going?

Expressions appear strained and stressed
Another man alone....
And a woman strolling by
What are the chances they might meet?

Ah, a family of passers by
Are they all looking for someone or something
I wonder if they are happy
Do they really feel free?

People's expressions look so blank,
When they look at me
Somehow, I feel they want to escape
Perhaps they feel locked within a lifeless form, like me

Going everywhere
Belonging no where
What a lonely life that would be

A scream!

Oh, please God, somebody set me free.....

I just wanted to say how well I can relate to this. It's just about perfect. Expressive.

Nice write. I can relate- Like a moth flapping its wings against that icy window glass...
I enjoyed that write I reminded me we all wish to be free.

I can relate to this (and not 'cause i got a mannequins shiny head!) how often we must all feel removed from the world...

A very thought provoking write, well expressed.

Johnny.
