For thirty years Ive been taking down this wall Thirty years of toil, With my tools of patience and understanding Patience has worn thin And theres little left of understanding New tool are desperately needed But the cost is too dear There has been times when Id almost made it Then just as I thought I may be permitted Just once to look over this wall It groans and rumbles from the ground Rising like a great fortress To block me yet again from which I seek Im so tired Lately I have started to realize Maybe its not mine to dismantle
