Laying in your arms, surrounded by warmth
As tender as I would have imagined
If only things were different
Could I find my way to your door
Without guile or coy rejoinders
I would look you in the eye
Thinking I have met my match
You would confirm it with a smile
So genuine it would make me shiver
Standing so close to you
Knowing we have been closer
Having danced the words so many times
Music ripples across the skin
Nerve endings respond to a song
Did I tell you I think of you often
Turning on a Mona Lisa smile
I look out the window at my reflection of you
Entangled in abstract love
Smoke and mirrors were made for us
To seek and hide where we must
Let me rest awhile in your arms
Memorize the feel of you
Before the light changes and you are gone
