grave thoughts

Contributed by reprobate on Wednesday, 11th May 2005 @ 11:26:56 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Roving wisps above the ember, float and rise
disappearing into the quiet dark, slowly
hoping it to take with, this agony I despise
knowing with certainty, it's never to be

Festering anger from a life of almost there
this darkened room offers little solace, I fear
uncomfortable and heat reflect from within my chair
barely noticable beyond too many a strangled tear

Sirens doppler to some unfortunate event outside
there isn't any feeling to be had here, all the while
and now, really, no care, either, for what's inside
just some pathetic, awash in apathy and bile

The cigarette's glow, with the stub, crushed out
after chaining another with much practiced indolence
these actions release a flood of bitter thought and doubt
seems the ashtray's full, not so unlike this existence

A myriad of dreams were trashed or sold, only to belong
false family, untrue friends, then onto some unknown idol
tracks of sadness describe the never right, always wrong
nothing has ever worked, so the trade is now, a bottle

As certain as there can never be war without pain
this life can't ever seem to know any happy or good
fake friends, family and gods only add to the strain
making my heart wish privation's final neighborhood

I truly hope you can find happiness again in your life. I am here if you ever need to talk. You are a good man and need a little sunshine in your life to brighten up the shadows. There is love and life out there again. It is just finding the right one.

Peace,
Dove

truly a heartbreaking heart and soulful write, the
images are off the charts, it is exquisite in its
pain, it is tangibly apathetic in that sadness
radiates off it, it feels alive not just words, a very
moving poem to read...

big love n' hugs nessa
