Ahhhhh yes, them glorious days of old when fear ran hot and war was cold; when colour, creed and ethnic race ignited hatred in a thrice; when corporal punishment at schools ensured adherance to the rules; when children were all to be seen yet never heard - that's discipline; when girls to women having grown could but aspire to stay at home; when men were born to work and die and not a tear were they to cry; all this and more recall the ways belonging to "The good ol' days."

Yes, Jordan, but there was also a good side to "the good ol' days." When you could play outside in clean air, unafraid of strangers. Family togetherness. Dances with chaperones, not police security. Respect for the elders. Being young and enjoying it and being allowed to be a child. Not pushed to be an adult at the age of 5. Group dates, not gangs, hayrides and drive-ins. Progress is not always beneficial for everyone. Great write though, sir.
