Letting Go

Contributed by Vampy on Monday, 30th December 2002 @ 08:20:00 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

The sight of you
saddens me-
you are not
the person I met.

The girl I met
was confident and fun,
unique and real.

The girl I "know" now
is so sad and lonely,
her eyes are shut,
and the blindness and ignorance
is hurting her.

Her best friend
is no good,
this girl was happier
before she came along.

This girl,
who I used to be
so close to,
who I used to call
my friend,
is now nothing.

It hurts to think
of the times
when I had fun
with her,
but I see that
those days are gone.

Those days were thrown away,
and they needed to be.

This girl became
more of a downer
than fun,
so now I must
let her drown
with her best "friend".

It cannot be said
that I did not
try to help-
I did,
but she did not care.

You are not the person
I met and once loved,
now you're just something
I don't want to be around.
