I felt the dark grainy ground beneath me, with palms and hind, smooth, firm. The breeze chilled my sheepish coat, pursuing me towards the inclined dark Maple I instinctively knew, that my mother had bore me to so many times before. She sat lingering at the base in concealment, her eyes stalking me from the shade cast about her. The merciless air cornered me against the bitter cold and rough walls, while I scraped at the holes in the gray infant barrier that kept me from my mother, along with other lambs. She leapt forward, face still hidden from my sight, until, over the separator she bounded and panic overtakes me, I felt as a lamb separated from the fold, with the predator concealed, yet known. Her once nurturing face was absent and to my vision sprang the ravenous likeness of the wolf, dark brown grisly fur which masked a long sinister snout embedded with pink stained canines.
