An Ode To Children

Contributed by Man_On_High on Saturday, 21st May 2005 @ 05:53:39 PM in AEST
Topic: DreamsandWishes

When the lessons and classes have ended
and school for the day is dismissed,
the children all gather around me
to bid me goodnight and be kissed.

With their little white arms that encircle
my neck in their tender embrace
and their smiles are halos of Heaven
shedding sunshine and love on my face.

and when they are sleeping I dream..
their childhood to lovely to last
and the joy that my heart now remembers
as it wakes to the pulse of the past
when the world and wickedness made me
a partner of sorrow and sin.
Now the glory of God is about me
with the glory of gladness within...

Oh.. my heart grows as weak as woman's
and the river of feelings will flow
as I think of the path of unholy
where the feet of the children may go,
with the mountain of sin that's above them
and the tempting of fate blowing wild...

Oh there's nothing on earth half so holy
as the innocent heart of a child.

"Oh there's nothing on earth half so holy
as the innocent heart of a child." There is also no love as unconditional as a childs. My sons and grandsons are the very essence of my life. I see my grandsons as a gift from above for raising my own. I only hope I can leave them a legacy of hope and love and inspiration. This is so splendid and true.

Billy~
I know I have commented on this write of yours before, but I just had to come back and re-read it and comment on it again. You capture the joys and happiness of childhood and you also speak of the dangers and evils that tempt them too. Innocence is the heart of a child, so true. Sadly we can only protect them so much my dear friend. May God watch over our children and may He keep them safe from harm~Amen.
May ur pen always flow fluently with the depth & emotion that surrounds your beautiful loving heart my dear friend.
Love from ur fan/friend,
sue m
