Summer time is here
and we all fear
the thing we can't explain
as children
we laugh at the sun
as it captures us at our best
before you know it
the laughter disappears and the sun breaks
handing out snowflakes
that fall heavily to the ground
you open your mouth to catch one on it's way down
but there's too many
a salty tear rolls down your cheek
and freezes to your skin
then and only then will you realize
the warmth of the sun
and wish on faded stars for it to return
but don't you frown
no matter how cold the winter
there's a spring time ahead
and in this spring time
that tear that froze itself to your face
will damply fall to the ground
creating puddles for you to splash in
on top of all of this
knowing that summer is only a smile away.
