We Are What We Are

Contributed by lost_in_me on Friday, 27th May 2005 @ 07:42:18 AM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

In the life of somebody perfect,
In the eyes of those unscarred and unmarked,
We are invisible.

Our complex minds seek out what theirs already contain,
Our tortured days fill us with pain and memories,
Pain that does not exist in those without masks,
In those that choose not to hide,
Turning away from a world of distant cries and heartless intentions.
We are transparent,

Their oblivious mind cloud their sight,
Two worlds separated by emotions,
Words,
And thoughts.
For those unwillingly ill-fated,
Each word softly whispered leaves a mark,
A scar,
Upon their very soul.
Each cautious step taken forward shatters and splinters,
Till all that is left is a heap of pitiful ruins.

We are nothing in comparison,
We are non-existent,
In a world of perfect people.
In a world where looks do matter,
And beauty is only skin deep,
We are what we are.
