On Poetry

Contributed by Masked_Man on Friday, 27th May 2005 @ 09:58:38 PM in AEST
Topic: abstract

Harmonious lines will entertain
when peace has vanished in disgrace...
The masses hearts are not in vain
when happiness shall shows it's face.

Where poets torture their invention
to better just a tiny part
to flatter us or lose their pension
in heartache of a poems art...

And on a mountain top we sit
a poet of every thought and size...
though rarley bite but always bit
by those on us who criticise.

Awesome stuff... a really creative original piece that I loved... that shows talent,
not that I'm a knowledgeable critic or anything. I think my favorite part was the
2nd stanza, but the 3rd one hit a lot of truth I believe. Nice work.

Great work. Criticism can make or break and artist. We all have good days and bad days and criticism should take in not only the poetic venture but the poets heart. Our poems are like our children. They are words from our heart and soul, therefore we feel protective of them. Kindness is a virtue in everything in life.

Smiles,
Rita

Aye, now here are some true words. Many critics (even those who can indeed critique without being able to create themselves) are arrogant fellows, and it is my firm belief that no true criticism comes from arrogance. A poet is his own first critic, although he should always listen to others if only to keep touch with the rest of the world. Well said.

Your write gave me this vision.. all of us writers sitting on top of this mountain..

And, you are so correct.. we will write our fingers to death trying to explain all that there is.. ever on earth or in heaven..

For me, writing is learning.. reading others poetry helps me to learn as well.. I get a better view of life..

Thank you for this splendid write to open up our eyes..

And, the writes go on...

Sing it like.. and the beat goes on lol...
