Self Concious

Contributed by CodyJ on Saturday, 28th May 2005 @ 09:16:25 PM in AEST
Topic: anguished

Who walks with a mirror in their head?
Runs fingers through their hair,
straightens out their shirts,
doesn't know what to wear,
Abercrombie or America Eagle?
Who uses glue?
Not for a macaroni medallion,
but to shape their hair like a stallion?
Who buys one hundred and twenty dollar shoes?
Nikes or Reeboks with the blue
classic sides and the heels riding high.
Can you go out without your rope braclet?
The Livestrong band around your hand,
or the tribal thing around your neck,
whose origins or history you never suspect.
Can't be seen without Oakley's,
can't be smelled without cologne,
can't speak without new slang,
can't count all the clothes you own
that are completly out of date.
Can you go out wearing what you want?
I, for one, cannot.

Awsome stuff...truly. It seemed like a satire of the consumerist nature of today...I could be wrong however...

I have to ask. Do you really feel like this? I am not sure I would even admit such weakness were it true. Give me levis and t-shirts at home and whatever the occasion calls for when I go out. Do you really think dressing for success gets you there? Just wondering.

Good write.
I wonder how it goes 14 years later?
