It happened the way I remember, didn't it?
So, why would I rather forget?
in the end you made me feel used and naive
like it was you to whom I was in debt
But it wasn't always that way, was it?
I don't want to open my eyes and see
the truth of the way things were between us
all the things you couldn't do for me
I sacrificed my life to be with you
because I didn't want to let go
at the time it all seemed so beautiful
and now it just seems so long ago
When you loved me and promised me forever
I would have done anything to understand
and now I'd give it all up to be blind,
but I know it's time I take a stand
I would have held onto you for anything
all I ever asked for was your love
but I guess that I wasn't important to you
even when you were all I could think of
I was whole before I ever knew you
and now I have to pick up the pieces
I've known you, loved you, despised you
and it's time to release this
