you're my favorite work of art
as pale as the stone you must have been carved from
an expert sculptor's eye must have loved you
to make you so perfect
all long thin limbs and lanky body
every rib pronounced
making a statement under your skin
perfect jaw, strong nose, thin stubborn lips
yours is a body i love to love
and a painter must have taken extra time
with you as perfectly colored as you are
pale white skin and black tattoos
keen blue eyes that grab through the chest
and slam into an unsuspecting heart
pale purple of your lips i'd love to kiss
not a blemish or a mark
just brilliance
i loved the way you fit to me so awkwardly when we hugged goodbye.
i wanted to stay with my ear against your breastbone
i wanted to look at you forever...my favorite work of art.
