Where do you go
When no one is looking
Where do you go
When your existence is lost in the fray
Where do you go
When you no longer occupy
A Retina
A Mind
A Smile
Or the arms of living matter
Where ever that is
That is where you will find me

It is a place
Not unlike this one
But with a subtle difference
The lights are not as bright
And the colors are not as detailed
The people are untouchable
And the sky is inescapable
The world is massive
But you never leave your home
The sidewalks are unused
And the city streets are empty
The flowers never bloom
And there are no sounds to be heard
When you reach out
Your fingers always fall short
But there is never
Really
Anything there to grasp at all

Where do you go
When no one is looking
Where do you go
When your existence is lost in the fray
Where do you go
When you no longer occupy
A Retina
A Mind
A Smile
Or the arms of living matter
Where ever that is
That is where you will find me

beautiful, i have felt like i've been in that place before, it's like i know this feeling exactly. You did a great job of expressing it, and the repeat of the first stanza at the end really drove the point through, very well done. :) I always love to read your work.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
